This year offered many new opportunities. I was a guest speaker for the “Tour with Two” at the Ackland Art Museum in the final weekend of the remarkable “PhotoVision” exhibit. I also took part in the “Local: Inside & Out” at FRANK Gallery in Chapel Hill.
In March, The ArtsCenter’s stage adaptation of Nancy Peacock‘s novel, “Life Without Water,” gave me the opportunity to create images that were projected from behind a screen as a backdrop.
I was thrilled to join the artists represented by Jane Tyndall at her gallery in University Place, one of the most respected fine art galleries in the state. My work will be included in a May 2016 show at Tyndall Gallery.
My husband, Chris and I began construction on our future home in Chapel Hill, that will be completed in 2016. I will have a lovely new studio space to continue my creative endeavors, which is very exciting.
I continue to work on my UNC Collective Memory Series. This year marks the ten-year anniversary of the renovation of Memorial Hall, and this year’s raffle image features that beautiful structure. In this photomontage, the original chandelier is shining upon the crest of the University as it crowns the proscenium, proclaiming ‘Lux Libertas’ (Light and Liberty), the UNC motto.
To enter the raffle for a chance to win a signed print of the image, visit the “Contact” page on my website, www.catharinecarter.com, and type “Star-struck.” Entries will be accepted through January 31, 2016.
I wish you new and exciting opportunities in the coming year.
