After graduating with a BFA in painting and printmaking from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, I operated a highly successful portrait photography studio from 1974-2009. During that time, I primarily worked with medium format cameras using black and white and color film. While doing much of my own black-and-white printing, I also explored alternative processes such as platinum/palladium printing, bromoil, photogravures and hand coloring with oil on black-and-white photographs.
In 2010 I decided to pursue my personal fine art full time and embraced the world of digital photography, exploring exciting new ways to create imagery. In my current work I use archival pigment prints as well as paint and collage to enhance the photomontage visual stories that are created.
My work has appeared in Silvershotz, B&W Magazine, Shadow & Light Magazine, and numerous galleries in both group and solo shows and was a Critical Mass finalist. Prints are available in limited editions as well as in a limited-edition fine art press book. I am a member of the Orange County Artist Guild (North Carolina), The Durham Art Guild and I often collaborate with other artists on special projects. In addition to my photographic work I continue to create striking, bold abstract paintings utilizing a variety of artistic tools of expression.
