Finding Inspiration in the Uncommon Garden
(4/18/2012) Last year, I had the opportunity to photograph one of my favorite models at the Uncommon Garden in Chapel Hill. It was a beautiful day and the garden was full of magical places to capture images. My favorite was the stone wall formed in the likeness of a serpent; portrayed in the photograph, Shed.
Shed depicts an elongated feminine form, delicately cast upon the large winding snake. She bravely embraces the transformation that is happening through her willingness to change. In my experience, the ability to acknowledge and confront fears is a first step toward evolution.
Photography offers a venue where I can visit the deeper aspects of myself and explore my own fears.
Shed will be displayed for sale at the Evening Gala Fundraiser for the Artscenter to take place at the Uncommon Garden on April 28th.
